​The Student Conservation Association is seeking a Regional Program Director for the Central Region based out of the Chicago office. A map defining SCA’s Central Region is attached. I encourage you to apply or forward to a qualified candidate.

Position Summary: The Regional Program Director (RPD) works closely with the Regional Vice President (RVP) and Advancement Officer to set the vision and drive the strategy for the region. Oversees the delivery of high quality programming in a designated region. The RPD manages regional program staff and regional program budgets. Actively builds relationships and works closely with interdepartmental regional staff to develop new programs and ensure the sustainability and growth of current programs. The RPD is the lead program staff in the designated region. This position ensures quality and consistency while implementing Innovation Engineering (IE) guiding principles.


·         Collaborates with the RVP and Advancement Officer to create and implement short and long-term plans for programs located within the region and in accordance with SCA national plans and objectives

·         Secures the workforce and leverages the systems and tools to actualize the regional strategy

·         Provides consistent and regular communication to regional staff to ensure alignment of goals and adoption of systems and processes

·         Ensures the delivery of mission-aligned programming in the designated region in accordance with SCA’s safety standards for quality and safety

·         Develop and oversee regional program budgets

·         Builds and maintains a high functioning regional team and provides support and training to promote employee development and productivity

·         Participates in and supports local and regional events as needed

·         Collaborates with National staff to ensure compliance with AmeriCorps regulations and identity requirements in the field

·         Shares responsibility with partnership and advancement staff in the regional team for cultivating and managing partner development

·         Collaborates with Program Quality team in the implementation of leader and member trainings and work skills; instructs when requested

·         Oversee/coordinate pre and post program reporting at the regional level in conjunction with Program Quality Department

·         Serves as Duty Officer and/or Program Responder and in incident response as directed

·         Incorporates feedback from partner, member and leader evaluations in program delivery

·         Understands industry trends and direct competitors in the region


·         Bachelor’s degree with specific major in field of endeavor or relevant coursework/work experience related to the specific field preferred

·         7+ years of progressively responsible experience including skills related to the position such as program management, staff management, partnership development

·         Demonstrated team leadership and/or supervisory experience

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a highly mobile, fast-paced team

·         Strong computer skills particularly in MS Office

·         SalesForce experience a plus

·         Willingness and ability to travel a minimum of 25% of the time

·         Current Wilderness First Aid/Responder and CPR certification

·         Valid Driver’s license and driving record within SCA guidelines

·         Must pass SCA criminal background check
