University of Wisconsin, Sustainability Office
The Sustainability Outreach & Events Specialist will provide planning, project management, outreach, and communications support for University-wide sustainability events and other outreach-related activities in support of campus sustainability efforts. As a member of the UW Sustainability office team, the Outreach & Events Specialist works cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff at UW to plan and carry out events across campus to promote and guide activities supporting the University’s Climate Action Plan and other sustainability goals. Responsibilities include planning, budgeting, programming and delivery of high-profile UW-wide events such as the annual Sustainable UW Festival, Earth Day, and a variety of other campus and community events that require event coordination or tabling.
The Sustainability Programs Specialist will provide program management, planning, outreach, and communications for University-wide sustainability programs, projects, initiatives, and events. As a member of the UW Sustainability team, the Programs Specialist works cooperatively with students, faculty, and staff at UW to lead projects and make connections across campus that promote and guide activities supporting the University’s Climate Action Plan and other sustainability goals. Responsibilities include: Lead and manage projects such as the Green Labs and Green Office certifications, and UW Green Teams; lead effort for annual reporting processes for UW and Non-UW reporting organizations; develop and manage project planning; work with Climate Action Plan Project Manager to coordinate communications and presentation material; supervise student hours and communicate UW policies and procedures for all new student hires; supervise internship credits and work with student and faculty advisors to ensure student requirements are met; and coordinate with Campus Sustainability Fund Coordinator to track and support student-led programs and projects.

Virginia Commonwealth University, Learning Garden Coordinator
Provide sustainability services to the VCU community in accordance with the Quest for Distinction, the VCU Climate Action Plan and the VCU Sustainability Plan, as implemented by the Office of Sustainability. Pomona College is seeking a talented, energetic, dedicated, and well-organized professional to serve as the Assistant Director, Sustainability. The candidate must be detailed-oriented and comfortable working in a relaxed but busy environment.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to the College’s sustainability programs and will develop, implement, and assess efforts for the integration of sustainability throughout campus operations and programs. This position will develop, enhance, and maintain environmental stewardship within the campus community and among its constituencies as well as develop strategies for: energy and resource conservation and efficiency, building performance and retro-commissioning, cost forecasting, community engagement and outreach, and strategic planning for sustainability. This position oversees the various programs of the Sustainability Integration Office. This position is an ex-officio member of the President’s Advisory Committee on Sustainability.

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies or other related field of study required; Master’s Degree preferred; Five years of hands-on experience implementing environmental or sustainability programs is required.  LEED level accreditation preferred or the ability to obtain within 18 months.

Below is a link to a job posting that will coordinate outreach and education/public events for the Chicago Park District’s Calumet properties as well as the Burnham Wildlife Corridor.  The posting has a specific description but does exclude the Calumet properties so be sure to consider that as well. Program Description: The Chicago Park District envisions parks as vital natural resources that provide Chicagoans the opportunity to explore green space and encounter wildlife in an urban environment. Public parks also  enhance individual quality of life, support positive neighborhood development, and encourage community dialogue. The Chicago Park District works with many partners to create  spaces that provide these benefits for the local community.

The Program & Event Coordinator will serve as a community connector and liaison for the Burnham Wildlife Corridor and other parks in the Bronzeville and Pilsen neighborhoods. He/she will be responsible for identifying and collaborating with community-based organizations of all sizes to shape and enhance park spaces, programming, stewardship activities and events. This work involves assessing the needs of local residents and individual parks and communities in order to create mutually beneficial relationships and programming.



Under supervision, coordinates special programs and events to bring programming resources to parks that would otherwise be unavailable. Performs related duties as required.

Plans and oversees special citywide programs in order to bring programming resources to the parks. Meets with individuals from partner organizations and determines tasks and then ensures their completion. Works with key individuals to define tasks and timeliness, gather and disseminate information and execute projects, programs and events. Plans and executes after-school programming, summer field trips and festivals. Coordinates staffing assignments and the delivery of supplies. Prepares reports and promotional materials on special programs.

Training and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Education or Outreach, or a related field, supplemented by three (3) years of experience in event planning, community engagement, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. Training in informal science education practices or demonstrated experience in informal science education settings preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of education and curriculum design principles. Knowledge of local ecosystems. Ability to understand and implement elements of community based programming. Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Organization and planning skills. Driver’s license preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish preferred.

Dickinson College is seeking a passionate campus sustainability leader to join the staff of our Center for Sustainability Education (CSE) as our next Projects Coordinator. The Projects Coordinator will create, plan and manage innovative hands-on learning opportunities for undergraduate students; inspire, mentor and supervise paid student interns and student volunteers in a variety of projects that use the campus as a living laboratory for sustainability; oversee Dickinson’s Handlebar Bike Cooperative; and act as an effective advocate and collaborator for advancing a culture of biking at Dickinson. In addition, the Projects Coordinator will update Dickinson’s greenhouse gas inventory each year, coordinate reporting about Dickinson’s sustainability efforts to external organizations, and assist with other activities that advance Dickinson’s sustainability goals. The Projects Coordinator will function as a liaison between CSE and student organizations, interact with staff from all divisions of the College, and work closely with facilities management staff and administrators. The Projects Coordinator will perform these responsibilities with a high degree of independence and minimal supervision. This is an entry-level position that pays a competitive salary of $32,500 and offers medical and other benefits.
