Sustainability Fellow – University of Mississippi
The Sustainability Fellowship at the University of Mississippi is an opportunity for a recent graduate to gain professional experience in the field of sustainability within the higher education context.  The Fellow contributes to and participates in the work of the UM Office of Sustainability as well as manages his/her own projects.  The Fellow oversees the development and facilitation of the EcoReps program, a peer-to-peer leadership and service program to engage and empower students living on campus in sustainable activities, issues and personal choices. Depending on interest areas, the Fellow will also have the opportunity to work on sustainability topics including active transportation, waste reduction, energy efficiency, diversity and inclusion and food sustainability. In addition, the Fellow will be involved in the university’s comprehensive data collection effort for the Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System.  The Sustainability Fellowship is a temporary position with a minimum term of one year and maximum term of up to two years.  It is an entry-level position but successful applicants will have some experience in and knowledge of the field of sustainability.

AASHE Paid Internship for Summer 2018–Work from Home or School–Apply now!

We are excited to share that AASHE (Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education) is now seeking applications for two PAID student interns within the Programs division, a Resources Intern and an Education Intern! Both interns, students at an AASHE member institution will work from their virtual home office up to 40 hours per week during Summer 2018 and then continue during the 2018-2019 academic year at 10 hours per week.
  • The Resources Intern will provide administrative and technical support related to the development of AASHE resources and has experience with data collection for AASHE’s Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS). Please review the job application for full details.
  • The Education Intern will provide ongoing administrative support for AASHE’s professional development programs and has experience in higher education sustainability and the ability to work independently with limited supervision. Please review the job application for full details.

  1. Volunteer Stewardship Program Manager – Posting #43271

Manages the volunteer stewardship program and supervises volunteers who perform restoration, conservation and monitoring work on Chicago Park District natural areas, complementing the efforts of the Department of Cultural and Natural Resources.

Must have:  BA/BS/AS/Technical or vocational degree in science-related field and 1 year related experience in custodial and ecological land management or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  1. Southern Illinois Strike Team  – Posting #43241

The Strike Team member participates on the Southern Illinois Invasive Species Strike Team working on high quality State, Federal, and Private lands.

Must have:  High school diploma and 6 months of related experience, as well as experience operating various types of machinery and the ability to obtain related certificates or licences.

The Development Assistant provides a full range of administrative support to the Director of Development and the Development department in Illinois.

Ecology Internships–Chicago Audubon/Forest Preserve District

Here’s another internship opportunity with Audubon Chicago Region. In conjunction with Forest Preserves of Cook County, we’re looking for two Ecology interns to assist with the daily activities of the Ecology department at the District. Main tasks will include entering and managing data, assisting in generating plant and bird inventories of restoration sites, assessing current restoration sites, and identifying new stewardship sites!
